Lebanese Education Minister discusses school year challenges in Nabatieh

Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Rima Karami, met with an educational and municipal delegation from Nabatieh to discuss challenges facing the upcoming academic year. The delegation, which included various school directors and municipal members, expressed a desire to begin the school year in person as scheduled despite security concerns in the region.

Minister Karami emphasized the ministry's commitment to maintaining the continuity of public schools, including those that have been damaged or destroyed. She announced a flexible approach for the first four weeks of the school year, allowing for in-person, hybrid, or remote learning based on the specific geographic location and security situation of each institution.

The meeting also addressed the need for infrastructure repairs, with Karami noting coordination with the South Lebanon Council to restore damaged schools. The delegation called on national leadership to enhance security presence to encourage residents to remain in their homes, while the Minister suggested that public schools could explore moving to alternative available buildings if necessary.
