Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher Education, Rima Karami, has addressed various administrative and operational challenges facing the public education sector.

Initially, the Minister defended a plan to merge several struggling public and secondary schools. Karami stated the reform aims to rationalize public spending and address inefficiencies in institutions that failed to meet regulatory standards or maintain minimum student numbers. She clarified that affected students would be transferred to nearby schools to ensure educational continuity.

Following this, the focus shifted to regional security and infrastructure concerns in Nabatieh. During meetings with local delegations, Karami discussed the upcoming academic year, proposing a flexible approach that allows for in-person, hybrid, or remote learning depending on the security situation. The Ministry is also coordinating with the South Lebanon Council to repair damaged school infrastructure and is considering the use of alternative buildings to maintain services.
