Lebanese Islamic Resistance destroys Israeli Merkava tanks in southern Lebanon

The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon announced that on Friday it engaged an Israeli army force advancing toward the northern side of the Ali al‑Taher high ground in southern Lebanon. The militants lured a unit consisting of infantry and armored vehicles into a kill zone, hitting three Merkava tanks with guided missiles, igniting them, and then continued the assault with rockets and artillery shells. The statement said the attack was a response to what it described as Israel’s breach of the cease‑fire.

Separately, Iran’s armed forces warned of a “severe” retaliation after Israeli air raids in south Lebanon killed four people. Iranian officials said they would respond strongly if Israeli aggression against Lebanese territory continued, while noting ongoing US‑Iran cease‑fire negotiations in Switzerland.

The clashes come amid heightened regional tensions and diplomatic pressure on Israel regarding its operations in Lebanon.
