Lebanese MP Ali al‑Miqdad urges rejection of US‑Iran ceasefire deal

On the 40th anniversary of the deaths of Hezbollah militants Hussein Mahdi Mahdi (Yasser) and Ali Ahmad Mahdi (Karrar), Lebanese MP Dr. Ali al‑Miqdad attended a memorial ceremony in the town of Ham, South Lebanon. Speaking to the assembled families and community members, al‑Miqdad praised the resistance, stating that Lebanon’s standing in the world exists because of the sacrifices of its fighters and that Israel has been defeated.

He referenced the recently announced agreement between the United States and Iran, which calls for a cease‑fire in Lebanon and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces. Describing the pact as a “humiliation and disgrace,” al‑Miqdad called on the Lebanese authorities to reconsider and reject the deal, asserting that only the resistance and the Lebanese people can secure the country’s freedom.

The remarks reflect ongoing political tensions in Lebanon surrounding external diplomatic initiatives and the country’s relationship with both the United States and Iran.
