Lebanese Mufti warns of internal political threats to sovereignty

Sheikh Ahmed Kabalan, the Jaafari Mufti, issued a statement addressed to the Lebanese people regarding the current political and security situation in Southern Lebanon. Kabalan expressed concern that the actions of the Lebanese executive authority pose a greater threat to the nation than external military forces.

He alleged that ongoing negotiations are being conducted in a manner that undermines national sovereignty and effectively hands over the security of Southern Lebanon to Israel. Kabalan characterized these diplomatic efforts as a project coordinated between Washington and Tel Aviv to dismantle Lebanon’s national identity and reshape regional maps.

The Mufti emphasized that protecting the country has become a paramount national duty, especially if the authorities are perceived to be complicit with external interests. He urged Lebanese political forces to recognize the rapid regional shifts and avoid being caught in what he described as a broader geopolitical conflict affecting the Middle East.
