Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to Meet US President Trump on Ceasefire Talks with Israel
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun announced a Washington visit scheduled for late July to meet President Donald Trump, aiming to advance negotiations that would cement a cease‑fire framework with Israel and end Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon. He said, “I expect that my upcoming visit to Washington and my meeting with US President Donald Trump will bring positive outcomes for Lebanon … to find a permanent solution to the cycle of wars and Israeli attacks on our country.”
Aoun stressed the talks will build on the June 26 US‑mediated framework agreement and noted he will not meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while hostilities continue. He cited the ongoing violence that has killed at least 4,301 people and injured 12,199 since the Israeli offensive began, and highlighted upcoming negotiations in Rome as a next step.
