Lebanese security forces seize 20,000 square meters of illegal hunting nets in Bekaa

The Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) conducted a large-scale field campaign in the Bekaa region to combat the illegal use of hunting nets that threaten migratory birds. Over a three-day period, the Bekaa Investigation Unit carried out raids across several areas, including the mountains of Arsal and the plains of Labweh, Ras Baalbek, Jdeideh al-Fakiha, Jubbat, Mashari' al-Qaa, Massa, and al-Nasiriyah.

The operation resulted in the seizure of more than 20,640 square meters of illegal hunting nets. Authorities stated that these nets trap birds and obstruct migration paths, leading to mass deaths that threaten biodiversity and ecological balance.

Following investigations, the ISF identified several individuals involved in the illegal activity, and legal proceedings are currently underway. The ISF has urged citizens to report poaching and violations against migratory birds via their ‘Ballegh’ service or by calling the operations room at 112.
