Lebanese security forces seize 25,000 square meters of illegal bird-hunting nets

Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) conducted a raid in the Akkar Plain to combat illegal hunting. Acting on intelligence, patrols targeted several agricultural projects in the area to seize equipment used to trap birds on their migration paths.

The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 165 bird-hunting nets, totaling an estimated 25,000 square meters. Authorities also confiscated four hunting machines, a battery, three loudspeakers, and electrical wiring used for the operation.

This action was carried out in coordination with the Anti-Poaching Unit (APU), the MECSHAP center, and the international organization CABS. Following recent operations in both the Bekaa and North regions, the total length of illegal nets removed has reached approximately 63,000 square meters. The seized items have been handed over to the competent judiciary.
