Hezbollah rejects Washington framework agreement on Lebanon‑Israel ceasefire
On 26 June 2026 Lebanon, Israel and the United States signed a 14‑point framework in Washington intended to end the Lebanon‑Israel conflict, restore Lebanese sovereignty over its territory and link an Israeli withdrawal to the disarmament of non‑state armed groups. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun welcomed the pact as a first step toward full sovereignty, while Prime Minister Nawaf Salam affirmed the government's commitment to restore state authority.
Hezbollah’s leadership condemned the agreement. Secretary‑General Naeem Qasem called the framework “a humiliation and a surrender of sovereignty,” saying it “was born dead” and would not be implemented. Senior Hezbollah figure Mahmoud Qamati echoed the rejection, stressing the party will not resign from the Lebanese government but will oppose the pact by “all possible means.”
In parallel, Hezbollah reported continual Israeli violations of the cease‑fire, citing airstrikes on towns such as Nabatieh, Meidoun and others, bombings of residential buildings, and the use of sound bombs near civilian areas, underscoring the group’s claim that Israel is breaching the truce despite the new framework.
