Lebanon arrests content creator George Deeb on drug trafficking charges

Lebanese security authorities have arrested content creator George Deeb, known online as ‘Doctor Food’, following months of disappearance. Deeb was apprehended at his home in the Akkar region of northern Lebanon. His arrest follows an in-absentia life sentence issued in connection with charges involving the manufacturing, trafficking, and smuggling of narcotics.

The legal proceedings originated after authorities intercepted a shipment of confectionery and food products at Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport. Investigations revealed the products were laced with drugs and intended for export to a Gulf country. Deeb, who also owns candy and food manufacturing plants, had previously denied the allegations to his followers.

Separately, content creator Shrouq Sunshine, Deeb’s ex-wife, held a public divorce celebration that drew significant social media attention. Despite legal disputes between the pair regarding their children, a judge in Keserwan had previously denied Deeb’s request to prevent the event, provided that Shrouq did not discuss their marriage or the divorce proceedings during the celebration.
