Lebanon Ceasefire Monitored by Iran, US and Qatar After Bürgenstock Talks

A cease‑fire in Lebanon has been put in place under the supervision of a joint “conflict‑resolution cell” comprising Iran, the United States, Qatar and Lebanese officials. The agreement, stemming from the Swiss‑hosted Bürgenstock negotiations, obliges Israel to halt hostilities and schedule a withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

The United States lifted a 60‑day ban on Iranian oil exports and Iranian frozen assets are being released to fund the implementation of the deal. U.S. Vice President JD Vance praised the progress and announced mechanisms to prevent further clashes. Iran confirmed it will enforce the cease‑fire and has secured the terms it sought in the understand‑ing memorandum.

Israeli military sources reported preparations for a pull‑out from several northern positions, with a formal announcement that troops will be stood down on Sunday. The development aims to preserve Lebanon’s sovereignty while reducing the risk of renewed fighting in the region.
