Lebanon extradites former Syrian General Adel Issa to Damascus

Lebanon has extradited former Syrian Major General Adel Issa to Damascus following an extradition request from Syrian authorities. Issa, a former high-ranking officer in the ousted Syrian regime, was detained in Lebanon under a warrant issued by a public prosecutor.

The Syrian Interior Ministry stated that Issa faces multiple serious charges, including premeditated murder, the intentional killing of more than two people, facilitating a felony, and torture resulting in death. Additionally, he is accused of acts intended to incite civil war and sectarian strife.

Issa previously held significant military roles, including commanding the Syrian army's 17th Division and serving as the ground forces commander in the Deir ez-Zor province until 2016. His case has been referred to a judge in Damascus to determine if it will proceed to the Damascus Criminal Court for trial.
