Lebanon Included in U.S.-Iran Ceasefire Deal, Hezbollah Praises Iran

Hezbollah issued a statement congratulating Iran on the United States‑Iran memorandum of understanding that promises a global ceasefire, explicitly noting that the agreement covers Lebanon. The group praised Iranian leadership and urged the Lebanese people to use the ceasefire as a “regional and international umbrella” to restore sovereignty and rebuild.

In Beirut, some residents began returning to homes in the south following the announced ceasefire, while officials warned that villagers near the border should wait for clearer security conditions. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the U.S.–Iran deal calls for “immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.” Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and parliamentary speaker Nabih Berri welcomed the inclusion of Lebanon and called for the practical implementation of the ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces and the end of hostilities.

Analysts note a shift in Tehran’s approach to Lebanon: Iran is moving to more direct military coordination with Hezbollah, sidelining traditional Lebanese intermediaries such as Amal leader Nabih Berri. This change follows the reported deaths of Iran’s supreme leader and Hezbollah’s chief, indicating a new Iranian command logic that bypasses the former political brokerage network while maintaining support for Hezbollah.
