Lebanon Ministry of Education to resume public school learning next week
The Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education issued a clarifying statement regarding the continuity of the educational process in public schools and secondary schools. The Ministry announced that work is underway to complete the necessary procedures to ensure that learning resumes in a gradual and flexible manner starting next week.
Addressing concerns about teacher contracts and the appointment of contract teachers, the Ministry clarified that recent measures are not intended to reduce teaching staff. Instead, these actions are part of a human resources reorganization aimed at aligning staff with actual educational needs and legal standards to improve education quality. The Ministry noted that delays in assessing these needs were due to delays in student registration by parents.
Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Rima Karami, has emphasized the priority of maintaining educational continuity. The Ministry reassured parents that the current delays will not negatively impact student achievement or required competencies, promising efforts to compensate for the lost time once the educational process is fully regularized.
