Lebanon Ministry of Energy sets August private generator tariffs
The Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water has announced the electricity tariffs for private generators for August. For subscribers in cities, densely populated areas, or altitudes below 700 meters, the rate is set at 48,241 LBP per kilowatt-hour. In villages, remote areas, or altitudes above 700 meters, the rate is 53,065 LBP per kilowatt-hour.
The pricing is based on an average diesel fuel tank price of 2,415,495 LBP. The calculation accounts for operational costs, maintenance, profit margins, and a parallel market exchange rate of 89,700 LBP per dollar.
The Ministry has urged generator owners to comply with regulations regarding the installation of meters and warned against charging unjustified additional fees to citizens. Authorities are also working to update the pricing formula to better reflect exchange rate fluctuations and the current socio-economic situation.
