Lebanon President Joseph Aoun's Washington Visit Spurs Talk on Southern Attacks

President Joseph Aoun met U.S. officials, including President Donald Trump, after returning from Washington and briefed parliamentary speaker Nabih Berri on the discussions. The leaders reviewed the ongoing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanese villages, including house demolitions and infrastructure damage, and reiterated the need to halt these hostile actions.

Berri, during his visit to the presidential palace, expressed disappointment that the United States had not yet provided tangible assistance, and pressed for broader "experimental zones" under the framework agreement to cover occupied villages. He highlighted the humanitarian impact of the Israeli assaults on schools, nurseries, water and electricity services, warning that they could prevent displaced residents from returning home. The meetings also touched on domestic matters such as the resumption of U.S. airline flights to Lebanon, railway development, and labor issues involving foreign workers.
