Lebanon Prime Minister Nawaf Salam Pushes for Full Israeli Withdrawal from the South

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam visited the southern village of Zawtar al‑Gharbiyah and said Lebanon is working toward a complete Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territory. He highlighted recent Israeli troop pull‑outs under a U.S.‑brokered pilot‑area framework and announced that the Lebanese army, police and civil authorities are restoring roads, water, electricity and communications while providing temporary housing for returning civilians.

Salam also noted ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure the full withdrawal and thanked the United States for its role in facilitating the pilot‑area arrangement. U.S. President Donald Trump has met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and pledged additional support, while U.S. officials continue military actions against Iran in the region.
