UNIFIL mission future uncertain amid US opposition to extension
The future of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is facing significant diplomatic uncertainty as its current mandate approaches its end. Amidst these negotiations, UNIFIL has already begun a gradual withdrawal from certain positions, including an observation point near the Khardali bridge, which has been replaced by a Lebanese Army checkpoint.
