Lebanon signs DCO Charter and launches Digital Prosperity Plan
Lebanon has signed the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) Charter, a move that initiates its accession as a full member state. The signing ceremony was conducted by Kamal Shehadi, Lebanon’s Minister of Displaced and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, who handed the charter to DCO Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya.
In conjunction with the charter signing, the Lebanon Digital Prosperity Plan (DPP) was launched. This plan is designed to convert national digital priorities into actionable initiatives, focusing on areas such as artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, connectivity, entrepreneurship, and investment. The initiative aims to foster a more competitive digital economy and attract strategic investment to support Lebanese talent.
The membership is expected to enhance regional cooperation, particularly with existing DCO member states like Cyprus. This digital alignment complements existing bilateral relations between Lebanon and Cyprus in sectors such as energy, security, and economic cooperation.
