Leblon mansion demolition begins for luxury development

Demolition has begun on the most expensive mansion in Brazil, located in the Jardim Pernambuco area of Leblon, Rio de Janeiro. The property, which was previously listed for R$ 220 million, sits on an 11,500-square-meter lot offering views of the sea, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, and Christ the Redeemer.

Built 46 years ago in an English-inspired style by the Amaral family, the residence featured six suites, 18 bathrooms, a music studio, a library, and a semi-olympic pool. The estate also included a high-end dollhouse and an annex for staff.

Over the next three months, the structure will be removed to make way for Estância Pernambuco, an exclusive residential development by Mozak. The new project will consist of ten high-standard houses designed by architect Thiago Bernardes, with individual lots valued at approximately R$ 23 million and homes starting at R$ 19 million.
