Lecce tourism operators support Euro 2032 hosting bid

Tourism operators in Lecce are expressing support for the municipality's initiative to host matches during the Euro 2032 football championship. Industry associations believe major sporting events help destagionalize tourism, strengthen the local brand, and increase hotel capacity.

To prepare for the event, the city is assessing its receptive capacity. Data from the Aforisma Economic Observatory indicates that Lecce has 2,012 structures providing 12,225 available beds. Requirements for the tournament include a ‘mini headquarters hotel’ to host UEFA officials, featuring at least 20 dedicated rooms and specific meeting spaces, as well as ‘team transfer hotels’ for national teams. These team hotels must be within 30 minutes of the stadium and one hour from Salento Airport, offering at least 70 single rooms per facility.
