Lecce upgrades stadium and fan zones to meet Euro 2032 bid requirements

Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi visited the Via del Mare stadium in Lecce and highlighted two critical gaps for a Euro 2032 bid: insufficient parking capacity and the lack of a dedicated fan zone. The municipality and U.S. Lecce are searching for new parking sites and considering repurposing the old anti‑stadium area to host fan‑zone activities, aiming to accommodate over 30,000 spectators per match.

Club president Saverio Sticchi Damiani said the club is close to completing a major modernisation of the venue, describing the project as a long‑standing dream now becoming reality. He noted cooperation with the minister and local authorities to ensure the stadium meets UEFA’s standards, keeping Lecce’s candidacy for hosting Euro 2032 matches credible and competitive.
