Lecce wins arbitration against player Lameck Banda

An arbitration panel has ruled in favor of the Italian football club U.S. Lecce in its dispute with former player Lameck Banda. The ruling confirmed that Banda’s contract was set to expire on June 30, 2027, and identified a serious breach of contract after the player failed to report for duty starting July 1.

As a result of this breach, the player has been issued a disciplinary fine of 256,250 euros. The decision follows Banda’s departure from the club during the summer to join Al-Swehly Sports Club.

Legal proceedings are expected to continue through FIFA. Lecce is seeking further damages and international sanctions against both Lameck Banda and Al-Swehly Sports Club, alleging that the player’s unilateral withdrawal from his contract lacked just cause and that the club induced the breach.
