Red light therapy uses various wavelengths for skin and muscle recovery
Red light therapy devices, including LED masks and panels, are increasingly used for skin rejuvenation, collagen production, and muscle recovery. While many standard devices utilize only red (660 nm) and near-infrared (850 nm) light, newer multi-wavelength panels offer a broader spectrum to target different physiological needs.
Specific wavelengths serve various functions: blue light (480 nm) is used for blemish clearing, yellow light (590 nm) for circulation and redness reduction, and red light (630-670 nm) for collagen synthesis. Near-infrared light (810-1060 nm) penetrates deeper to assist with joint relief and muscle recovery.
Dermatologists note that the effectiveness of these devices depends on the combination of wavelength, irradiance (power emitted to the skin), and treatment time, rather than simply the proximity of the device to the skin.
