LED Street Lighting Upgrades La Hortensia (Argentina) and El Boro (Chile)

In the La Hortensia neighbourhood of Córdoba, Argentina, Mayor Daniel Passerini inaugurated a new LED street‑lighting system. The project installed 91 wooden poles with LED luminaires, laid 3,530 m of pre‑joined cable and added two protection and measurement panels. It is part of a municipal modernization plan carried out with the provincial energy company EPEC and funded with a municipal investment exceeding 37 billion Argentine pesos, aiming to improve safety and reduce electricity consumption.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Council of Alto Hospicio, Chile, approved the “Mejoramiento del Alumbrado Público Sector El Boro” project. The plan will install high‑efficiency LED luminaires along Avenida Jerusalén, replace existing fixtures and upgrade associated infrastructure. Council members voted in favor to enhance nighttime visibility, pedestrian safety and energy efficiency as the city’s urban growth continues.

Both initiatives reflect a broader push in Latin American municipalities to replace sodium‑lamp lighting with LED technology to lower energy demand and improve public safety.
