Led Zeppelin rare single discovered on Antiques Roadshow

A rare seven-inch single of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” has surfaced on the BBC program “Antiques Roadshow” in Wales. The record is considered an anomaly because the band’s management, led by Peter Grant, had previously ordered all copies of the single to be withdrawn and destroyed.

Led Zeppelin maintained a strict policy of releasing music exclusively in album formats rather than singles. Atlantic Records had originally printed a limited run of approximately 500 copies. Expert Mark Alam noted that because the single was officially released in the United States, a copy “should not even exist” in the United Kingdom.

The owner of the vinyl has held onto the record since the early 1970s, having acquired it while looking for music for a disco. Despite minor scratches and fingerprints, the rare item is estimated to be worth approximately £1,000 at auction.
