Lee Chang-dong’s ‘Possible Love’ wins Grand Jury Prize at Venice

Lee Chang-dong’s upcoming Netflix drama, ‘Possible Love’ (가능한 사랑), has garnered significant international acclaim, including the Grand Jury Prize at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. The 164-minute film explores themes of class, trauma, and human connection through the intersecting lives of two couples: a factory worker involved in a plant-occupation strike and his wife, and a documentary filmmaker with her husband.

The narrative examines how economic instability and the struggle for survival impact personal identity and relationships. Starring Jeon Do-yeon, Sol Kyung-gu, Jo In-sung, and Jo Yeo-jeong, the film has been described by its cast as having the depth of a great piece of literature. Following its success in Venice, the film also placed as the first runner-up for the International People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
