Legal developments in criminal sentencing in Argentina and Mexico
In Argentina, César Roberto Cepeda is appealing a 14-year prison sentence for the sexual abuse of two minors in Lucas González. His new legal defense, led by attorney Juan Brondo, intends to challenge the legitimacy of his current preventive detention before the Criminal Cassation Chamber of Paraná, arguing that his continued incarceration constitutes an early application of his sentence.
In Mexico, Isaí Eduardo Pérez Cisneros has been sentenced to 140 years in prison for the aggravated kidnapping of a minor in Cancún. The crime occurred in December 2017, when the victim was abducted and held in a residence in the Villas del Mar subdivision. After the victim's family failed to meet a ransom demand of one million pesos, the minor was killed. In addition to the prison term, the judge imposed significant fines for damages and reparations.
