Argentina judicial elections set for October 2026

Lawyers with active federal credentials in Argentina are preparing to elect representatives for the National Council of the Magistracy (Consejo de la Magistratura) for the 2026-2030 period. The election is scheduled for October 20, 2026.

Candidate Itatí Demarchi Arballo, representing the 'Abogacía Unida y Dignidad Profesional' list, has campaigned in the Northeast region (NEA) with a focus on federalizing justice. Her proposals include addressing judicial vacancies in the interior of the country, increasing transparency in institutional processes, and creating a registry for lawyers to represent minors in federal cases. She also proposed the establishment of a Federal Observatory to monitor magistrate performance.

The Colegio de Abogados de San Isidro (CASI) has confirmed that the voting will take place in San Isidro, requiring a federal credential and national ID. The election will determine four titular representatives and four alternates to the body responsible for selecting, sanctioning, and removing federal judges.
