Legal sanctions issued for EDF employees in Guadeloupe and prison agents in Gabon

In Guadeloupe, a court in Pointe-à-Pitre has issued criminal sanctions against eight EDF employees following a general power blackout in October 2024. The employees received prison sentences of up to 18 months, some of which are suspended.

In Gabon, the prison administration has implemented large-scale disciplinary actions at the Libreville central prison. Twenty-two agents were affected: thirteen were dismissed from their positions and nine were demoted. Authorities described the move as an internal cleansing process intended to restore discipline and combat corruption within the penitentiary system during the current political transition.
