Legambiente certifies high water quality at Italy's Fiastra and Albano lakes

The Legambiente‑run Goletta dei Laghi campaign confirmed that the waters of Lago di Fiastra in the Marche region meet national bathing standards for 2026. Monitoring data presented at the regional event showed the lake earned the “Four Sails” award for water quality, and the mayor Giancarlo Ricottini noted a €43,000 investment in the current treatment plant while awaiting a new contract.

A subsequent leg of the campaign will take place on 18 July at Lago Albano in Castel Gandolfo, Lazio. organized with the Circolo Legambiente Appia Sud, the event will feature canoeing, stand‑up paddleboarding and calls for an immediate lake‑defence plan to address climate‑related pressures on Italian lakes. Citizens, associations and local officials are invited to participate.
