Municipalities in Argentina and Chile upgrade public lighting with LED technology

Various municipalities and legislative bodies in Argentina and Chile are implementing programs to modernize public lighting through LED technology.

In Catamarca, Argentina, the Chamber of Deputies granted partial approval to the Provincial Intelligent Management and Monitoring System for Public Lighting (SIGIMAP). Proposed by Deputy Juan Carlos Ledesma, the project aims to use technology to monitor luminaires, detect failures, and improve maintenance efficiency.

Local municipal efforts are also underway. In Esquina, Argentina, the municipality is replacing old lights with LEDs to improve nighttime visibility and security. Similarly, in Río Colorado, Argentina, 67 new LED luminaires were installed in Villa Mitre and other sectors to optimize energy consumption and reduce maintenance needs.

In Aysén, Chile, the Municipal Council unanimously approved the purchase of 460 new 150-watt LED luminaires. This initiative follows an initial phase of 200 installations and aims to enhance pedestrian and driver safety while complying with environmental regulations regarding night sky protection.
