Legislative Council elections held across four Indian states

Voting concluded on Friday for 28 Legislative Council seats across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. The elections covered graduate and teacher constituencies, with results scheduled for counting on October 27.

In Uttar Pradesh, which held the highest number of elections with 11 seats, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav alleged that voters were being obstructed and criticized the Election Commission. Reports also indicated a physical altercation between Samajwadi Party and BJP workers in Muzaffarnagar, which was reportedly de-escalated by police presence near a state minister.

In Bihar, 8 seats were contested, featuring a triangular contest for the first time. Turnout data showed significant participation in teacher constituencies, while graduate constituency turnout was lower. Maharashtra and Karnataka also completed their respective voting processes for 5 and 4 seats.
