Legislative disputes and allegations of incitement spark political tension

Political tensions are rising in Costa Rica and Uruguay involving legislative disputes and allegations of incitement. In Costa Rica, Deputy Claudia Dobles has condemned Deputy Nayuribe Guadamuz for a social media post that Dobles claims incites physical aggression against Deputy Ariel Robles. Dobles warned that such rhetoric from public officials is dangerous and could legitimize violence during a period of rising crime in the country.

In a separate legislative matter, former Deputy Gloria Navas responded to a criminal complaint filed by Deputy Marta Esquivel. Esquivel has filed charges against former Congress President Rodrigo Arias and other former members of the Legislative Board, alleging improper “hand-picked” appointments to administrative positions. Navas criticized the move as a negative confrontation and challenged Esquivel to renounce her parliamentary immunity to face her own legal processes.
