Beyond the workday project, the Assembly is preparing to debate the reelection of Julia Varela as a magistrate of the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice. While the Appointments Commission recommended against her reelection in August, the process remains contentious; Varela will be automatically reelected until 2034 unless at least 38 deputies cast votes against her. Reports indicate a divided political landscape with rumors of pressure being exerted on opposition deputies regarding this vote.
