LEGO fan communities to build massive modular models for 20th anniversary
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the LEGO Icons Modular Building Collection in 2027, 22 Recognized LEGO Fan Communities (LUGs) from around the world are collaborating on a massive reconstruction project. These communities will recreate iconic modular buildings at approximately four times their original scale.
The global initiative spans North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Participating groups include various clubs from the United States, Canada, South Korea, Australia, Denmark, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Each community is responsible for the design, engineering, and construction of its assigned building, working within shared standards to ensure a cohesive collection.
In total, the project is expected to utilize approximately 11.5 million LEGO elements. Individual builds will use roughly 500,000 elements, with some larger models requiring up to 750,000. The completed giant models will be displayed at major LEGO fan events and public exhibitions worldwide.
