Netflix releases LEGO One Piece animated special
Netflix has released a two-part animated special titled ‘LEGO One Piece’, which reinterprets key events from the first two seasons of the live-action series. The special features the original live-action cast reprising their roles in voice work, including Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, and Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro.
The narrative is framed through the perspective of Usopp, who recounts the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventures to the crew’s newest member, Tony Tony Chopper. Because Usopp is known for his tendency to embellish stories, the special adopts a playful and exaggerated tone, allowing for comedic reinterpretations of the original plot.
Showrunner and executive producer Tom Hyndman, who also worked on the live-action adaptation, noted that the project aims to provide a fun perspective for longtime fans while serving as an accessible entry point for new viewers. The production involves collaborations between the LEGO Group, Shueisha, Atomic Cartoons, and Tomorrow Studios, with Eiichiro Oda serving as executive producer.
