LEGO PlayStation set announced alongside functional emulation mod

LEGO has announced a new PlayStation set (#72306) featuring 1,911 pieces. The model recreates the original 1994 console, measuring approximately 26 cm wide, 19 cm deep, and 6 cm high. The set includes a wired controller and modular easter eggs inspired by titles such as Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. It is scheduled for general release on October 4, 2026, with an early access period for LEGO Insider members starting October 1, priced at 159.99 euros.

In a related development, a Swiss team led by Thomas Bertani, the creators of the BrickBoy mod, is working on a project called BrickStation. This mod aims to transform the LEGO PlayStation set into a functional console using emulation. The plan involves using a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W housed in an injection-molded ABS plastic kit designed to fit within the Ape Escape diorama compartment of the LEGO set. The modification intends to provide HDMI output for television compatibility and support for both wireless and wired modern controllers via USB.
