LEGO Racers remake ‘Step On It’ released as free browser game

A free, browser-based remake of the 1999 classic LEGO Racers has been released under the new title ‘Step On It’. Developed by NavigatorSharp, the project utilizes the open-source decompilation work from isledecomp to recreate the original experience.

The remake includes all content from the original game, with all tracks and racers unlocked from the start. In addition to preserving the original themed circuits such as Pirates, Adventurers, and Space, this version introduces several modern enhancements. These include an online multiplayer mode for up to six players, rebalanced items and shortcuts, and more aggressive AI for enemy racers.

To comply with LEGO Group’s fair play policies, the project uses the renamed title ‘Step On It’ rather than the original trademarked name. The game can be played directly in a web browser without the need for installation.
