LEGO releases PlayStation replica set and BrickBoy announces playable kit
LEGO has unveiled a 1:1 scale replica of the original Sony PlayStation console, a 1,911-piece set priced at $180. The model features working power and open buttons that reveal a diorama of games such as Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. The set is currently available to LEGO Insiders, with a general public release scheduled for October 4.
In a related development for retro gaming enthusiasts, the Swiss-based team BrickBoy is launching BrickStation via Kickstarter. This creator-made electronic kit is designed to transform the LEGO PlayStation set (72306) into a functional console. The kit allows users to play original PS1 games on a TV via HDMI, supports Bluetooth or USB controllers, and includes features like a speaker and vibration motor to mimic the sound and feel of a CD drive. The project follows the success of the team's previous LEGO Game Boy project, which raised over €1 million on Kickstarter.
