LEGO unveils Batman Returns Batmobile set with transformation feature

The LEGO Group has unveiled a new 2,269-piece collector set recreating the Batmobile from Tim Burton’s 1992 film, ‘Batman Returns’. Designed for adults, the model features a unique transformation mechanism: by pressing a button, the vehicle’s side panels retract to reveal the Batmissile, mirroring a key scene from the movie.

The set includes several detailed elements, such as a jet turbine engine, an opening canopy, and a detailed cockpit. It also features hidden Easter eggs, including a replica of the device used by The Penguin to hijack the vehicle. A new, exclusive Batman minifigure is included, featuring a custom-molded cowl and cape to match Michael Keaton’s portrayal in the film.

Scheduled for release in early September 2026, the set will be available to LEGO Insiders starting September 1, with a general release on September 4. The retail price is set at approximately $229.99.

Separately, LEGO is also preparing for the launch of the ‘Mayhem Collection’ DLC for the LEGO Batman video game, which is expected to release on September 18. Additionally, several Studio Ghibli-themed designs remain under review through the LEGO Ideas program, though no official release date has been confirmed for those community-generated concepts.
