Leipzig inaugurates new Großzschocher primary school

The new Großzschocher primary school was officially inaugurated on August 21, 2025, in Leipzig. The event included several officials, such as Saxony's Minister of Education Conrad Clemens and Leipzig Mayor Vicki Felthaus.

Mayor Felthaus emphasized that investing in educational infrastructure is a vital signal of commitment to the city's youth, even amidst tight municipal budgets. She noted that school buildings serve as community hubs, providing spaces for clubs and local activities outside of standard school hours.

Leipzig's broader school construction strategy focuses on maintaining existing structures and securing the school network. Future projects include the opening of the Dösner Weg community school and a new sports hall at Ratzelstraße secondary school in 2027. Additionally, renovation projects are planned for the school in Gundorf and the Löbauer Straße building in Schönefeld, which will house the Astrid-Lindgren-Schule.
