Leipzig to build 1 million euro skatepark in Wiederitzsch

A new modern skatepark is scheduled to open in the Wiederitzsch district of Leipzig by spring 2027. The project, costing approximately 1 million euros, will be built on a 2,600-square-meter public green space located at Alten Dübener Landstraße/Neue Messe.

The facility will feature a 'Street-Flowpark' design, including 950 square meters of specialized roller sports surface. Key elements of the park include a pump track for downhill sections, a 'jumpbox', and a 'wallride' for speed sections. To integrate the park into the surrounding environment, the development includes 31 new trees, 250 square meters of shrub plantings, and various wildflowers and wild herbs to support local flora and fauna.

This initiative is part of Leipzig’s city-wide skate development concept and is funded through the 'Nordraum-Sofortprogramm 2023/24-2025/2026' approved by the city council. Local officials noted the project provides a much-needed meeting point for children, youth, and adults in the northern part of the city.
