Leipzig to continue media development plan for school digitalization

The City of Leipzig intends to continue its media development plan to ensure reliable and demand-based technical equipment for schools and after-school care centers. The plan aims to maintain high-level digital infrastructure to support modern teaching and mitigate IT security risks associated with outdated technology.

Following guidelines from the Saxon Ministry of Education, municipal schools are currently meeting requirements for mobile devices, including one set per primary school class and one set per group in secondary schools. In 2024, approximately 6,000 educational rooms were equipped with hardware such as PCs, notebooks, and projectors using funds from the 'DigitalPakt Schule'.

As the initial 'DigitalPakt Schule' expired at the end of 2024, authorities have agreed on 'Digitalpakt 2.0'. To meet state requirements, Leipzig plans to invest 8.9 million euros in 2027 and 7.6 million euros in 2028 into school digitalization, pending the availability of state funding regulations.
