Leipzig to host Day of the Homeless event and donation drive

On September 11, 2026, social service providers and associations in Leipzig will host an event for the Day of the Homeless at Richard-Wagner-Platz. Starting at 3:00 PM, the event will feature presentations of local social work, music, and an art exhibition created by homeless individuals.

Organized by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Recht auf Wohnen—a group comprising social workers, city administration employees, and city council members—the day includes communal dining organized by ‘Küche für alle (KüfA)’ to encourage dialogue. The Leipzig Social Office will be present to provide information on assistance for those facing acute or imminent homelessness. Organizers are urgently requesting donations of sleeping bags to support local emergency housing services.
