Leire Díez accused of offering judicial deals in Spanish corruption probe

Attorney Antonio José García Cabrera, representing retired commissioner José Manuel Villarejo, testified before the Audiencia Nacional that former socialist activist Leire Díez offered to arrange a meeting with the fiscal general to influence the “Tándem” case, which investigates alleged schemes to disrupt judicial proceedings affecting the government and the PSOE.

Businessman Claudio Rivas, also questioned by judge Santiago Pedraz, denied that Díez offered him any benefit in exchange for altering testimony, rejecting claims that he was approached to provide compromising information on Repsol, the Guardia Civil, or senior officials. Both testimonies form part of a broader investigation into a purported network involving Villarejo, ex‑socialist party members, and various entrepreneurs alleged to have tried to manipulate legal outcomes.
