L’Eliana Local Police faces staffing shortages due to vacancies

The CSIF union has reported significant staffing shortages within the Local Police of l’Eliana, noting that eight positions remain unfilled. Out of a planned 40-person workforce, only 32 are currently active, a number expected to drop to 31 shortly due to an upcoming departure.

The union describes a structural deficit affecting nearly a quarter of the force, primarily caused by unaddressed vacancies from retirements and transfers. This shortage has led to increased workloads for existing officers, necessitating frequent overtime and sudden schedule changes to maintain minimum operational requirements. CSIF has called on the city council to expedite selection processes to resolve vacancies that have been accumulating since 2023.
