Lemgo and Bersenbrück top German Stadtradeln competition in 2026

In the 2026 edition of Stadtradeln, the German municipality of Lemgo recorded 322,355 kilometres ridden, a distance equivalent to more than eight times the Earth's equator, and avoided approximately 53 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The town topped the Lippe district rankings for total kilometres, kilometres per capita and number of rides, and its mayor and new cycling officer praised the achievement as a benchmark for local bicycle promotion.

Meanwhile, the Samtgemeinde Bersenbrück saw 454 participants log 104,028 kilometres over three weeks, saving about 17 tonnes of CO₂. Local teams and schools competed for top spots, with the Heilpädagogische Hilfe team winning overall and the Grundschule Bersenbrück placing third among schools. Awards were presented by the climate‑protection manager and the mayor during a ceremony at the town hall.
