León, Guanajuato Hosts Record-Breaking National Youth Volleyball Festival
The Festival Nacional Infantil y Juvenil de Voleibol in León, Guanajuato ran from July 19 to July 25, 2026, featuring an unprecedented 1,465 teams and more than 17,000 young players, making it the largest youth volleyball tournament in Mexico's history. Participants came from across the country, including the Veracruz team “Cachorras,” whose players highlighted the event’s high competitive level and family atmosphere.
The Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez fielded three squads, using the tournament as a development platform and scouting opportunity. Coaches noted the value of early talent identification and the support of the university’s sports director. León’s facilities and festive environment positioned the city as the national hub for youth volleyball this year.
