León, Mexico summer festivals 2026

Overview

In mid‑July 2026 León, Guanajuato kicked off a multi‑event summer program called “Festival de Verano 2026.” The opening free concert on 26 July featured orchestras and choirs of more than 600 children and youth and was promoted as a cultural showcase expected to draw up to one million visitors and generate about 570 million pesos for the local economy.

From 19 to 25 July the city staged the fourth edition of the National Youth Volleyball Festival, the largest youth volleyball competition in Latin America. Over 1,465 teams and more than 17,000 players competed on 85 courts across four venues – Poliforum León, Parque Deportivo Enrique Fernández Martínez, the Mulza Outlet zone and Instituto Jassá – attracting more than 50,000 spectators. Champions included Catanes Tamuín (girls) and Jaguares de Nuevo León (boys); in the Infantil Mayor final, Toritos de Nuevo León defeated Panteras de Sinaloa, a result highlighted by coach Manuel Morales Guerrero. Organizers said León’s repeated hosting cements its role as a strategic hub for major sporting events.

The festival’s sports calendar continues with the International Youth and Junior 7‑a‑Side Football World Cup, scheduled for 6 – 9 August at the Banchetto Futbol 7 fields. Fifty teams from Mexico, Colombia, Haiti and the United States will compete in six boys’ age categories (born 2008‑2019) and an open women’s division, involving roughly 900 players, coaches and officials. The event is organized by the Mexican 7‑a‑Side Football Federation, which has been running scouting camps across the country and plans further activities in Ciudad Juárez, Morelia and Oaxaca.
